Idle No More: Oshawa Solidarity Rally

Tuesday, January 1, 2013

On Saturday, January 5th at 12:00pm, Oshawa will be the next community to join the thousands of voices across Canada participating in Idle No More. The solidarity rally will take place on the Albert St bridge over highway 401.

As Chief Theresa Spence of Attawapiskat continues her hungry strike, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities across Canada are taking action to show solidarity and support for Idle No More. We are calling on the Harper Government to respect First Nations’ treaty rights and protect our environment. We are also urging Prime Minister Harper to meet with Chief Spence and heed her call for Nation-to-Nation discussions between the Crown and First Nations People.

As Oshawa’s federally elected representatives, we call on Dr. Colin Carrie and Minister Jim Flaherty to take our message to the Prime Minister. We will continue to organize further actions across Oshawa and Durham Region until First Nations’ voices are respected and heard.

Please bring your flags, placards or any other material that visibly identifies yourself and your organization!
