Startling New Report to Show that Ontario is the toughest Province to Live and Work:
Coalition of 90 Community Groups to Release Damning Report on Ontario’s Rising Inequality
(Toronto, Ontario) – A cross-Ontario coalition concerned with growing income inequality is releasing a damning new report that shows that for all but the highest income earners, Ontario has become the most difficult province to earn a living and raise a family. The report will demonstrate that by nearly every measure the Ontarians are caught in an economic backslide that is worse than every other province and that Ontario’s social programs are the most poorly funded in Canada.
The report, to be released online on Thursday by the Ontario Common Front, tracks the dramatic transformation of Ontario’s labour force, as well as poverty, income inequality, out-of-pocket costs for social programs and other various measures.
When: Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 6:00 a.m.
Where: Download the full report from www.WeAreOntario.ca
What: Report Release of “Backslide: Labour Force Restructuring, Austerity and Widening Income Inequality in Canada.”
Interviews can be arranged with Natalie Mehra, Principal Author of the Report and the Executive Director Ontario Health Coalition, and Ontario Federation of Labour President Sid Ryan. Both can speak to the content of the report and the context of Ontario’s backsliding labour market and social safety net.
The Ontario Common Front brings together more than 90 community groups and labour unions across Ontario that are working to expose growing inequality and propose workable solutions to fix it. Visit the campaign website: www.WeAreOntario.ca
